I started playing Guitar in 1996 and that’s when I started writing songs and pieces of music too. In this time I’ve written lots of songs with my old band Bashphelt (listen to them on spotify); and currently I write songs with my band Suburban Symphony, acoustic songs under Drew Gee, and songs for my Hip-Pop project Gizesque.
I also have the experience of writing songs and pieces of music to video and a given brief too. Below are some of my songwriting achievements:
1999 – I co-wrote a song called ‘The Millennium is Here’ with fellow school students as part of a nationwide competition to celebrate the millennium. The song reached the final and we were featured and interviewed on BBC 1 North West Tonight.
2006 – I wrote a song called ‘Refrain and Maintain’ with Bashphelt. With this song, we won a national competition called ‘Popworld Promotes’, which resulted in us being the first unsigned band to appear on T4’s Popworld.
2007 – I wrote a song called ‘Voyage’ with Bashphelt, which got us to the final and televised stage of T4’s Mobileact Unsigned competition.
2009 – I wrote a song for Burnley Football Club with my guitar student Jasmine Clarkson called ‘Dare to Dream’. The song became the club’s official anthem, receiving nationwide coverage from Sky Sports News, BBC1 Look North News, Match of the Day, ITV Granada News and Radio 5 Live. See the official video for the song produced by the Reverb Factory Ltd below:
2012 – I wrote a song called ‘You Can’t Deny Me’. With this song, me and the band were picked to perform at the Etihad Stadium prior to the Manchester City Vs West Brom Football match in May 2012, as part of the ‘City Soundwave’ competition where we were exposed to 45,000 people.
